I was not a real estate newbie when I hired Linda. In over 30 years in San Francisco, I had moved up from an apartment, to a studio, to a pretty good triplex, then to a great house in Cole Valley. I wish I had known Linda much sooner.

She helped me (I had no idea) price my house sensibly, & we got more than two dozen offers, all way over asking, right away. My wonderful & deeply missed house sold almost immediately for more than I had dared hope, to someone I feel good about.

Negotiations which can be esoteric & nerve-wracking but with Linda they were sane & relatively simple. Linda guided me through them calmly, clearly, & patiently. I feel like I am leaving my friends & neighbors with a great new neighbor & I hope that I have made a new friend.

About The Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund

The grateful parents of a pediatric patient created the Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund to provide toys, hotel vouchers and other amenities for needy children and their families at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Richard Glogau, a dermatologist and clinical professor at the UCSF School of Medicine, and Pam Baj, a nursing professor at San Francisco State University, established the fund to show their appreciation for the excellent care their son received.

Their son, born in 1989 with severe orthopedic problems, underwent two surgeries, several casts, braces and physical therapy. Today, he is an avid athlete. In fact, Baj and her son meet with parents of children born with similar orthopedic conditions to share their experience and positive outcome. “I am so grateful for the excellent care my son received,” Baj said. “We had a fantastic experience.”

While their son was hospitalized, Baj and Glogau met many families who traveled long distances for the specialized treatment provided at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. These families incurred expenses including parking fees, meals and hotel costs during prolonged hospitalizations of their children. The Glogau Teddy Bear Rescue Fund is intended to assist needy families with small but important amenities.

The fund got its name from an incident in which a child arrived at the hospital without his teddy bear and needed a toy to hug on his way to the operating room.

Song of the Day: Tender Mercies – “Heaven Knows”  If you’ve been a fan of the Counting Crows, you surely know the band’s lead guitarist and backup vocalist Dan Vickrey. You might think that the Counting Crows has been Dan’s only serious band since he’s been with the group for nearly twenty years. What you may not know is that Dan had an excellent band called Tender Mercies before joining the Crows. In fact, it was Dan’s singing and songwriting that led to him joining Counting Crows. Some Tender Mercies songs have even made their way onto the Crows’ set lists. While Dan enjoys jamming out with Adam Duritz and company, it was finally time for him to record and release a Tender Mercies album. “The songs still resonated with me and reminded me of those early days, but better,” he admits. Last month, Tender Mercies released their self-titled debut on Collective Sounds.

San Francisco architect Cary Bernstein recently completed this renovation and expansion of an old cottage in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood. The cottage had suffered a series of haphazard additions over a 100-year period, and the client wanted more space and an updated modern interior.
